Our story

OUR STORY

It started with a journey.

Some stories begin with a business plan. Ours began somewhere between Belgium and China.

A life in motion.

Maison Lointaine began long before it had a name.

Our founder, Karin, spent five years living in China before moving to South Korea. Married to a pilot, travel was part of everyday life: new places, long journeys and a life lived between countries.

It was through the people she met along the way that she discovered the exceptional cashmere of Inner Mongolia.

In a region known for some of the finest fibres in the world, she found a small producer whose quality felt different from anything she had come across before.

That discovery became the beginning of Maison Lointaine.

From far away, made for everyday.

The name Maison Lointaine — a home far away — has always carried something of that story with it.

But the idea was never to make cashmere that felt distant or precious.

Quite the opposite.

Karin wanted to bring exceptional cashmere into everyday life: pieces you could travel in, work in, go out in and come home in. Beautifully made, incredibly soft, but never waiting in the wardrobe for the right occasion.

Now, a new chapter.

Today, Maison Lointaine is a mother-daughter story.

Karin now runs the brand together with her daughter, Olivia. Two generations, two perspectives and one shared obsession with clothes that feel as good as they look.

Karin brings years of knowledge, trusted relationships and an instinct for exceptional quality. Olivia brings a new creative direction and a fresh perspective on how we want to wear cashmere today.

A little less precious. A little more lived in.

The same exceptional cashmere, with new energy.

Made for wherever life takes you.

We believe beautiful clothes should be part of real life.

For early mornings and late arrivals. Workdays, weekends away and ordinary days at home.

Pieces that don't require too much thinking. That work with jeans, tailored trousers, over a shirt, on a plane or out for dinner.

Pack them. Throw them over your shoulders. Wear them again.

Because good cashmere shouldn't wait for a special occasion.

It should go with you.

MAISON LOINTAINE

Made to live in.
